COVID-19: 940,000 HDB Households To Receive $134mil In S&CC Rebate

In total, each eligible household will receive 1.5 to 3.5 months of S&CC rebate, depending on their flat type.
Around 940,000 Singaporean Housing and Development Board (HDB) households will receive Service and Conservancy Charges (S&CC) rebate worth $134 million from April 2020 to March 2021, revealed the Ministry of Finance (MOF) on Wednesday (25 March).
The rebate is part of the Care and Support Package unveiled during Budget 2020 to help households with their expenses.
In total, each eligible household will receive 1.5 to 3.5 months of S&CC rebate, depending on their flat type.
Specifically, HDB households living in one- and two-room types will get 3.5 months of rebate, while those staying in three- and four-room types will receive 2.5 months. Those living in five-room types will enjoy two months’ worth of rebate while executive or multi-generation room owners will be offered 1.5 months.
“They will be notified through letters from end-March, and will receive their quarterly S&CC Rebate in April, July and October 2020, as well as January 2021,” said the ministry.
The S&CC rebate has been paid out by the government annually since 2013 to help directly offset the S&CC payments of HDB households.
“Households that pay their S&CC through GIRO do not need to take any action as their respective town council will make arrangements directly with their banks,” explained the MOF.
